W. D. “Maxie” McDonald, Jr. 83, of Groves, Texas passed away at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Beaumont, on Friday, December 2, 2022. He was born in Orange, Texas on June 24, 1939 to the late Wilfred Drake McDonald, Sr. and Martha McDonald.
Maxie was an avid reader, talented artist and enjoyed old western movies. He loved horses and animals of all kinds. After retiring from DuPont, Maxie started his own business as the proud owner and operator of McDonald’s Horse Transportation for more than 25 years. Maxie was a quiet and simple man and loved his family with all of his heart. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Maxie will be missed by all that knew him.
Those left behind to cherish Maxie’s memory are his loving wife of 46 years, Barbra McDonald; his children, Larry McDonald, Marc McDonald, Jamie Albritton and her husband, Mark, Kimmi Hoffpauir and her husband, Paul; his grandchildren, Desiree McDonald, Jordan McDonald, Emilee Doucet, Justin Albritton, Taylor Albritton, Caroline Albritton Sahba, Megan Hoffpauir Gibson, Trevor Hoffpauir, Hayden Hoffpauir; his great-grandchildren, Landon Albritton, Jackson Albritton, Ace Albritton, Olivia Sahba, Blakely Hoffpauir; his brother, Walter McDonald; and his loving companion, Little Kitty McDonald. Maxie is preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Terri Krummel.
A gathering of family and friends to celebrate Maxie’s life will be held on Wednesday, December 7, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland, Texas.
