Wade Harvey DuBose

Wade H. DuBose, 82, of Fort Worth, Texas passed away Thursday, December 6, 2012 at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont after an illness. He was born on June 2, 1930 in Nacogdoches, Texas. One of his favorite pastimes while growing up was playing baseball. He turned that passion into his first career, playing with the semi-professional baseball team The Houston Buffalos, until an injury that sidelined him. He then joined the Marine Corps where he served his country proudly with the Military Police. After the Marine Corps he settled into what became his life's work, being in the newspaper business. He started as a driver in the service department at The Houston Post. From there he went on to the layout department at the Houston Chronicle. He then moved to Port Arthur to become the manager of the classified department for twelve years. Later he moved to Fort Worth and retired as an advertising executive with the Fort Worth Star Telegram. He excelled at his work a born salesman with the gift of gab. A true Southern gentleman. Wade was a member of the Julian Field Lodge #908, 32nd Degree Mason, Scottish Rite and Shriners, past President and past Deputy District Governor of Lions Club. He was on the Board of Directors of the Tuberculosis Association and was involved with the Camp Fire Girls and the Boy Scouts of America. Wade is preceded in death by his mother, Oda Lee "Kitty" Baty, Aaron Dupuis his son-in-law and Barbara DuBose. He is survived by four daughters Terry Hampton and husband Jon of Port Arthur, Karen Dupuis of Port Arthur, Jamie DuBose of Fort Worth, Carla Haberzettle and husband Terry of Keller, Texas. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Keith Dupuis, Jordan Dupuis and wife Laura, Scott Hampton, Todd Hampton, Chelsie, Callie, and Tyler Haberzettle, one great grandchild Aaron Hampton, and close friend Virginia Seymour. A memorial service will be at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves with Reverend Stephen McCrate officiating.
