Wade Hampton Nichols, Jr. Wade Hampton Nichols, Jr., 75, of Groves, died Friday, October 1, 2010 at Christus St. Mary Hospital in Port Arthur, Texas. He was born on February 23, 1935 in DeQuincy, Louisiana to Wade Nichols, Sr. and Elsie Taylor Nichols. Wade had lived in Groves for 45 years and was retired as an operator from Firestone after 40 years of service. He was a U. S. Marine veteran serving in the Korean Conflict and a member of the VFW in Nederland. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 5, 2010 at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves with burial to follow in Oak Bluff Memorial Park. Reverend Chris Bottoms of Friendship Baptist Church in Groves will be officiating. A visitation for family and friends will be Monday evening from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Wade is survived by his wife; Diane Nichols of Groves, three sons; Wade H. Nichols, III and wife, Debbie of Kirbyville, Brett Nichols and wife, Kelly of Bridge City, and Seth W. Nichols of Port Neches, sister; Mary Ann Perkins and husband, George of North Carolina , twelve grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Diane, John and I were so sorry to hear about Wade, our thoughts and prayers are with you and his children. We really enjoyed visiting with you, Wade, and the kids when you where up a few months ago. God bless and keep you in his care during this time.

Wade was married to my sister, Diane, for many years. I know that she and all the children and grandchildren will miss him very much. All of our family will miss him. He was a good brother-in-law and friend. May he rest in peace.

Wade was a trusted friend and coworker. Enjoyed sharing Dequincy stories with him while we worked together at Firestone.

Wade was a fellow athlete at De Quincy High School.He was a good friend that I could always count on to help my family when I was overseas on a undesirable tour. My children looked on him as a favorite uncle that they loved very much. Wade was a great brother-in-law.
