Wallace Xavier Hebert, Jr., 79, of Lumberton, Texas passed away on Sunday, June 12, 2022, at St. Elizabeth Hospital with his loving wife by his side.
Wallace was born on November 6, 1942, in Port Neches, Texas to Hazel Mary Mire Hebert and Wallace Xavier Hebert, Sr. He was a Port Neches Groves graduate and a member of the St. Charles Catholic Church in Nederland. Wallace was a butcher for Quick Serv in Beaumont for many years. He and his wife prepared boudain, beef jerky and other specialty meats from his house. Wallace also processed deer meat for some of the local deer hunters in the area. He loved to hunt, cook, especially his famous gumbo. Wallace also relaced baseball gloves for many Little League, High School and College baseball players. Wallace loved his family, friends, co-workers; church members and all of his customers as he loved helping anyone who needed his help. He had a tender and loving spirit, despite suffering from severe health issues for the majority of his life. Wallace really knew how to make others feel good about themselves; he really listened and took the time to enjoy people.
Survivors include his wife of fifty-one years, Marie Ellen Hebert of Lumberton; daughter, Lisa Hebert of Alexandria, Louisiana; sister, Lorena Strange and her husband William Charles Strange of Beaumont; numerous nieces and nephews.
Wallace is preceded in death by his parents, Wallace and Hazel Hebert; son, Anthony “Tony” Hebert and sister, Margie Frederick.
A visitation will take place from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, June 16, 2022, at Melancon Funeral Home in Nederland with a Rosary to be recited at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday at St. Charles Catholic Church in Nederland, Texas. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves, Texas.
