Walter H. Murphy

Walter H. Murphy, 93, of Port Neches, Texas passed away on Monday, November 7, 2022. Walter was born in San Antonio, Texas on June 27, 1929 to the late, Walter Clyde Murphy and Ruby Corrine Murphy.
Walter served his country proudly in the United States Navy Reserves and retired from Chevron with 31 years of service. He loved cars, enjoyed camping and was an avid Ham Radio Operator with the call sign WA5OCV. Walter was a member of First United Methodist Church Port Neches where he enjoyed singing in the choir.
Those left to cherish Walter’s memory include his loving wife of 73 years, Hazel Murphy of Port Neches, Texas; daughters, Cynthia Diane Sorrels and her husband, Tommy of Tyler, Texas, Debra Lynn Choate of San Antonio, Texas and Donna Ruth Murphy of Port Neches; son, Walter Edward Murphy of Augusta, Georgia; brother Richard P. Murphy of Pearland, Texas, eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.
Walter is preceded in death by his parents, Walter Clyde Murphy and Ruby Corrine Murphy; and his brothers, John R. Murphy, William K. Murphy and David L. Murphy.
A gathering of family and friends will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 13, 2022 at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland, Texas with a Memorial Service to begin at 2:00 p.m.
