Wanda Mae Hanks, 91, of Groves, Texas passed away Wednesday, September 9, 2020 at home surrounded by her family, on the same day as her husband Alex's birthday.

Wanda was born February 16, 1929 in Singer, Louisiana to Willie and Emma Saulsbury. She was a resident of Groves for 66 years and member of Grace Baptist Church.

Wanda was preceded in death by her husband Alex Hanks; son, Monty Hanks; five sisters and six brothers.

Survivors include her daughter, Charlotte Sasser and husband Ronnie of Groves; daughter-in-law, Marla Hanks of Port Neches; grandchildren, Darin Sasser, Chad Sasser, Amber Crenshaw, Aimee Mullin, Annie Lent, Jared Hanks, and nineteen great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

A visitation for family and friends will begin at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 12, 2020 at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves, followed by the funeral services at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Dennis Whitmire officiating. Burial will be at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches.

Wanda, it's a few days shy of a year and I still miss you so much. Losing you many years after mother, i know y'all are heavenly neighbors now. I keep in touch with Charlotte and Ronnie, and Sue. Charlotte and Family, I am sorry for your loss. Ms. Wanda was always a joy to be around, she and Mother were at Friendship together for many years. I know they will all be together in Heaven and talking and joking as before.

I didn't know she wasn't well, with Covin going around I didn't visit. Wanda was a hoot and was loved so much bye her family. Will miss her, and her laugh, she was a good person. Grateful she was in my life, may God Bless her family.

Mrs. Hanks was a wonderful person and a strong Christian. I remember her from Friendship Baptist Church where she always had a great smile and kind words for all. My thoughts and prayers are with her family.
