Wanda Hines Hefley, 90 years old, passed away on December 28, 2011 at the Community Retirement Home in Port Arthur. A life-long resident of Port Arthur and Groves, she was the daughter of Washa and Zell Hines and the widow of John M. Hefley Jr., her husband of 54 years. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Wayon Hines. She attended Port Arthur schools thru Junior High, but graduated from Port Neches Groves High School in 1938. She graduated from Port Arthur College and later worked there as Comptroller. While at the college she attained her CPS (certified professional secretary) award. She retired from Gulf Oil Corporation's Human Resources Department as Secretary after 25 years of service. She is a member of First Baptist Church in Port Arthur. For many years she was a member of St. Mark's Methodist Church. She has been very active and on the Board of Trustees of the Community Home, Lamar Port Arthur Alumni Association Board, Trivium Club, Department Club, P.E.O. Chapter CF, A & M Mothers Club, Historical Society, TAM: Little Theater, Community Concert and volunteered at the Museum of the Gulf Coast. She loved playing bridge and belonged to a couple of bridge clubs. She traveled extensively throughout the world and had visited all 50 states. She was an avid Aggie fan. For many years she and her husband attended all the home football games and traveled to many out of town games (even to Honolulu, Hawaii. She is survived by her children: Martin Hefley and wife Mary Sue Hefley, of Bryan, Texas; Ann Boriskie and husband Don Boriskie, of Alpharetta, GA. Grandchildren: Jeff Hefley and wife Debbie of Spring, Texas; Dr. Amy Hair and husband Dr. Clark Hair of Houston, Texas; Laurie Sandlin and husband Doug Sandlin of Boulder, Colorado; Barry Boriskie of Augusta, GA; Michael Hefley of Bryan, Texas and nephew and niece, Terel and Judy Hines of Sulfur, LA. A visitation for family and friends will be at Levingston's Funeral Home, 5601 39th Street, Groves, TX, on Friday, December 30th from 7 9 pm and funeral services will be Saturday, December 31st at 10 am, with Rev. Margaret Desmond and Rev. Byron Jarratt officiating. Burial will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park immediately following the funeral.
