Wanda Jo Price

1934 ∼ 2024

Wanda Jo Price

Wanda Jo Price passed away peacefully in her home on Wednesday, August 14, 2024 at the age of 89. She was born on November 22, 1934 in Port Neches, Texas to Joseph Whitney Fletcher and Irene Jackson. She was a proud big sister to her brother Gerald W. Fletcher, and they had many adventures along the way growing up. Wanda loved to travel and visited many areas of the country, enjoying the sights and scenery. She was musically talented and played the piano and violin at her church. She enjoyed the outdoors and planting beautiful flowers. She loved her church family at Seventh Street Baptist Church in Nederland, where she was a member for 66 years. She was very loving to her family, and was always willing to give advice when needed, and lend a helping hand.

Wanda was preceded in death by her father, Joseph Whitney Fletcher, mother Irene Jackson, and stepmother Leila Fletcher. She is survived by her loving daughter Marilyn Sanders, grandsons Eric Justice and Justin Sanders, great grandchildren Ashlyn Heckman, Quentin Baker, Seth Baker, and Samantha Martin, and great great grandsons Lucas Covington, Easton Covington, and Axl Heckman, her brother Gerald W. Fletcher and sister-in-law Mardell Fletcher, nephews Johnny Floyd and Jeff Floyd, and niece Julie Fletcher, and her best friend Ruby Matthews, with whom she shared many good times and conversations.

The family would like to thank the staff of Harbor Hospice, who made her last days much more comfortable. Your compassion is a blessing to those who need it most. Also, thank you to Kristopher DelaCruz, MD, and Oscar Enriquez, MD and staff for your thorough and compassionate care.

John 11:25-26 Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection and the life: He that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live, and whosoever believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?

Rest peacefully, mom, until we meet again. We all love you dearly!

There will be a visitation from 1pm-2pm at Seventh Street Baptist Church, Nederland, followed by a celebration of life service at 2pm Saturday, August 24 with Pastor Kevin “Kicker” McWilliams officiating. Dear friends Brother Mark Humble and Brother Daryl Stukey will be the music ministers.

Condolences

Oh Marilyn, I just read this tribute to your precious Mom. What great memories Mrs Wanda gave to my childhood through her laughter, joy of life, and friendship to my own Mom. Prayers of comfort along with wonderful glorious memories for the weeks and months ahead. Your Mom was one of my favorite ladies at the Ned. Library - we could talk and laugh for way too long. She sure loved you! I heard many loving stories as you were always a blessing to your Mama!
