Wayne Darcey

Wayne Darcey, 69, of Port Neches, Texas passed away at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont, Texas on Wednesday, July 13, 2022. Wayne was born in New Iberia, Louisiana on October 25, 1952 to the late Freddie Darcey and Martha Segura Darcey.

Wayne was a graduate of Port Neches Groves High School class of 1971. After graduating, he went on to work as a mechanic for Entergy Power Plant where he retired after more than 25 years of service. Among his friends and family, Wayne was known as the “Pecan Man.” He got deemed the “Pecan Man” because of his famous candy pecans he would make and generously give out for everyone to enjoy. In his spare time, Wayne liked to play golf, hunt, fish, and he was an avid sports fan. Wayne loved the Texas Longhorns, Dallas Cowboys and Houston Astros. Although Wayne was a fan of all sports, his favorite to watch was soccer, but only when his daughter, Lindsay, was playing. He was her biggest fan and never missed a practice, game or life event. Even when Lindsay got older, he made a point to stay close with her and never missed a weekly dinner at Cheddars. Wayne was a loving father and grandfather and he will be missed by all who knew him.

Those left to cherish Wayne’s memory are his daughter, Lindsay Darcey; his step-son, Jeremy Gentile and his wife, Michaelyn; his grandchildren, Desiré Boyd, Jillian Gentile, Paisley Gentile, Maggie Lormond; and his other loving family members, Jeromy Lormond, Diana Gutierrez, Allen Badeuax, and Karen Watson. Wayne is preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Judy Badeuax.

A gathering of family and friends for a visitation will be held on Saturday, July 16, 2022 from 12:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland, Texas. A funeral Service for Wayne will immediately follow the visitation and begin at 2:30 p.m. Interment will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches, Texas.

We are so sorry we didn't hear of Wayne's passing. Eddie and Wayne played softball for the Lighthouse Roadrunners. There were many memories with Wayne but I'll always remember his pooka shell necklace... Wayne was a great son to his Mom and he took good care of her. RIP until we all meet again.. I will miss my little buddy greatly. We made many memories together. Some are unmentionable. Many mornings the first on the golf course so he could get back to mom. Fond memories of our softball days when we traveled all over Texas & Louisiana as we had the best team in SE Texas. Fishing trips were some of our fun times. Our deer camp was always the place to be as we were entertaining with lots of cajun jokes. We made so many memories together that last a lifetime. RIP Wayne till I see you again.

So sorry to hear of Wayne's passing, praying for your family's comfort. Besides our numerous golf outings and enlightening conversations, my fondest memories of Wayne will be how he chose to provide wisdom to me when I first started at Sabine Plant, keeping me safe on many occasions by sharing his wealth of experience. Will also miss his calls just to chat years after he retired. Rest in peace Wayne. -Daniel Tegtmeier

Peace be with you Lindsay. I will miss my texts and calls with him. He loved winning any argument along with gloating when he did. I met him 50 years ago that seems like yesterday. Hugs to you Wayne.

I was just thinking of Wayne earlier this week. Went to junior and senior high schools with Wayne, played baseball against and with him. During Little League all-star practice Wayne gave me some good batting advice. Sorry to see of his passing.
