Joseph Wayne Hebert was born on September 15, 1942 to Martha Eve Landry Hebert and Cleveland Francis Hebert. During his time at Lamar, Wayne joined the United States Marine Corps, in which he served from 1963 to 1969. He was honorably discharged with a rank of Staff Sergeant from the Marine Corps Reserves. This October would have been their 50th anniversary. They had the opportunity during their marriage to live overseas in Egypt, Nigeria, Scotland, and England, and Wayne saw much of the rest of the world as well.
