Wayne Hebert

1942 ∼ 2014

Wayne Hebert, 71, of Lafayette, Louisiana died Thursday, August 14, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. Joseph Wayne Hebert was born on September 15, 1942 to Martha Eve Landry Hebert and Cleveland Francis Hebert. Wayne was loved by all who knew him, and was a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He was born and raised in Port Arthur, Texas and graduated from Bishop Byrne High School in 1961. After graduation, Wayne attended Lamar State College of Technology, where he earned a bachelor of administration in accounting. During his time at Lamar, Wayne joined the United States Marine Corps, in which he served from 1963 to 1969. He was honorably discharged with a rank of Staff Sergeant from the Marine Corps Reserves. Wayne deeply valued what he learned in the Marines, and told wonderful stories about his time in boot camp. Wayne was married to Gloria Fay DeJean on October 2, 1964. This October would have been their 50th anniversary. They had the opportunity during their marriage to live overseas in Egypt, Nigeria, Scotland, and England, and Wayne saw much of the rest of the world as well. Wayne was unfailingly kind, patient, generous and slow to anger. He was also an excellent chef. A Funeral Mass will be held Friday, August 22, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Port Neches, Texas with Reverend Shane Baxter officiating under the direction of Levingston Funeral Home Port Neches. So sorry to hear about Wayne. He was a beautiful man inside as well as outside. I know Gloria will have many cherished memories of their years together. Let these be your comfort and know that you are not alone and that your strength will come from God above who is now taking care of him and loving him as you did.

Gloria, I'm so sorry for your loss. I only met Wayne a few times and he was always congenial. Cinda lost her husband Jan. 10 after 48.5 years and it has been tough.

I am sorry to hear of your loss. The death of a loved one is one of the most devastating experiences a human can face. At times, the loss can seem unbearable. The Bible promises; "God is near to the brokenhearted." It also says: "Throw your burden on God and he will sustain you." (Psalms 34;18 and 55:22) I hope this message will help you cope with the loss of your loved one.

Wayne was such a warm, easy going person and I have great memories of his visits to our office over the years. After visiting with Ross, he would always take time to come visit with me and it always brightened my day. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
