Welton Scarborough, 91, of Nederland, Texas passed away September 12, 2018. He was born in Rosepine, Louisiana on October 17, 1926 to the late Carrol Clarence Scarborough and Mary Alefaire Smith Scarborough. Welton was a operator for Texaco for 34 years before retiring. He served his country proudly in the U. S. Army and was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Nederland.
Those left to cherish Welton’s memory are his sons, Alan Scarborough and his wife, Linda of Houston and Alton Scarborough and his wife, Shauna of Silsbee; his daughter, Melinda Evans and her husband, J. D. of Nederland; grandson Kenny Ferguson of Houston; granddaughters, Danielle Thompson and her husband, Cody of Nederland and Hallee Fontenot of Nederland; his great-grandson, Dylan Ferguson of Houston; his sisters, Teenie Garcee of Moscow, Tressie Cook and her husband, Grady of Natchitoches, Louisiana, and Doretha Bond of Deridder, Louisiana; and his brother, Rubel Scarborough and his wife, Phillis of Lake Charles, Louisiana. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Alma Lou Scarborough, his brother Melton Scarborough and his wife Frankie; and his brother-in-laws, Bill Garcee and Kenneth Bond.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Monday, September 17, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at First Assembly of God Church in Nederland with a funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m., Rev. Ricky White officiating. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens of Jefferson County in Nederland. Arrangements are under the direction of Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland.
