Wilbert Lee “Baby” Brau, a devoted and beloved uncle, and esteemed machinist, passed away peacefully on March 7, 2025, in Beaumont, Texas. Born on September 17, 1938, in Groves, Texas, Baby lived a life rich in love and dedication, leaving behind a legacy cherished by all who knew him.

For 41 years, Baby was with the love of his life, Jean Scott of Orange, Texas, whose companionship brought him great joy and happiness. Baby was fondly remembered by his extended family, including nieces Debra Hutchins of Cypress, Texas; Teri Schildknecht and her husband Charles of Port Neches, Texas; Wanda Williams of Denison, Texas; Nancy Earnhart of Achilles, Oklahoma; Marla Walters of Groves, Texas; Marcy Townsend and her husband Jay of Beaumont, Texas; Vicky Adams of Ennis, Texas; Melissa Brau of Houston, Texas; and Courtney Wickler and her husband, Troy of Groves, Texas. His nephews, Robert Lovelace and his wife Michele of Bridge City, Texas; Ronnie Lovelace and his wife Fran of Nederland, Texas; and Harvey Brau and his wife Valerie of Granbury, Texas, will also hold dear the memories of their uncle.

Baby's life was marked not only by his family ties but also by the strong bonds he formed with his extended family, including Lori Williams and her husband Tommy of Deweyville, Texas; Tammy Francois of Orange, Texas and Debbie Fears of Deweyville, Texas; Cathy Bridges of Orange, Texas; and Huey (Hoot) Scott of Orange, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his cherished parents, Maxwell and Gertrude Brau, his sisters, Ire Nell Van Devender, Maxine Lovelace Burke, and Shirley Holland, and his brothers Clarence Brau, Harroll Brau, Harvey Brau, and Mike Brau. His nieces Diana Gail Berry and Katherine Mouton Freeman, as well as his nephews Daryl Glenn Lovelace and Christian Brau, have also passed before him.

In honoring Baby's life, family and friends are invited to gather for visitation at Melancon Levingston Funeral Home, 2001 Nall St, Port Neches, Texas, on March 13, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, with a funeral service to follow at the same location beginning at 11:00 AM. A graveside service will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches, Texas.

Baby was a man of integrity and kindness. May he rest in eternal peace, remembered fondly by all whose lives he touched.

The family request that memorial contributions be made to the Humane Society of Southeast Texas or an animal shelter of your choice.
