Wilbur "Jimmy" Steen

Wilbur "Jimmy" Steen, 84, of Port Neches, Texas passed away peacefully Wednesday January 13, 2021 surrounded by his loving family.

He was born November 25, 1936 in Port Arthur, Texas to George Wilbur Steen and Anna Bonin Steen. Jimmy was a lifelong area resident and retired from Texaco Chemical in Port Neches as a maintenance coordinator after 36 years of service.

Jimmy graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in Port Arthur in 1955 and went on to complete his BBA in accounting from Lamar University in Beaumont.

He married the love of his life, Sue Smith Steen, on February 21, 1959 and proudly served his country in the Army National Guard.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Larry John Steen; and sister, Janice "Cinnamon" Steen.

Survivors include his wife, Sue Steen of Port Neches; and daughter, Stephanie Steen of Austin; sister, Barbara Steen Mouton of Port Arthur; brother/cousin F.J. Bonin of Kilgore, numerous nieces and nephews and honorary granddaughters, Harley Hebert, Aniston Reeves, and Rhiannon Gillis.

Jimmy was loved by many and never met a stranger.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, February 13, 2021 at the Knight of Columbus Hall in Port Neches from 12:00 Noon to 3:00 p.m. Gumbo will be served.

So sorry Sue. Jimmy "Wilbur" was a good friend. Before the pandemic I would run into him at HEB where he was a regular. I enjoyed working with him for years. RIP: Jimmy and Brenda Noone

Sue, I'm so sorry for your loss. I'm grateful I got to see and speak to Jimmy over the last few years. I knew you and Jimmy through my parents when I was a young kid, then I worked with him for several years at Neches Butane. He will be missed. Prayers and Godspeed.
