Wilburn M. Jones Wilburn M. Jones, 89, of Nederland, Texas passed away Saturday, June 19, 2010 at Cypress Glen East in Port Arthur. He was born on May 3, 1921 in Rogers, Texas to M. W. Jones and Verdie Wiggington Jones. Wilburn served in the 32nd Division G. Co., 126th Infantry, second battalion in the U.S. Army during World War II. He earned the combat infantryman badge, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal with three Bronze Stars, Philippine Liberation Ribbon with one Bronze Star, Purple Heart with three Oak Leaf Clusters, Victory Ribbon, three overseas Service Bars, and a Good Conduct Medal. After the war he joined the Army Reserve and reached the rank of master sergeant before he was discharged. He had a lifetime membership in the 32nd Division, Disabled Veterans and Military Order of the Purple Heart. Wilburn retired from Texaco as a carpenter after 32 years of service. He was a member and deacon at Memorial Baptist Church in Port Arthur. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 22, 2010 at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves. Reverend Jeremy Bradshaw of Memorial Baptist Church and Reverend Charles Roberts will be officiating. A Military graveside service will follow in Oak Bluff Memorial Park veterans section. Visitation for family and friends will be Monday evening from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Wilburn is survived by his wife, Corin Jones of Nederland, two daughters, Jeanette Jones of Houston, and Peggy Sinclair and husband, Charles of Nederland, granddaughter, Angie Sinclair Morgan and husband, Artie, great granddaughter, Karlie Nicole Morgan of Lumberton, and two sisters, Mildred Johnson of Groves, and Imogene Butaud of Nederland.
