William “Bill” Stinnett, 82, of Port Neches, Texas passed away on Tuesday, March 20, 2018. He was born on January 4, 1936 in Ft. Madison, Iowa to the late, Gordon Stinnett and Bertha Krogmeier Stinnett. He was a member of Pipe Fitter Local #195 for 37 years and was employed by Neches Butane, Texaco and Huntsman. Bill was a devoted member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Port Neches. He was very involved with and coached Little League Baseball in Port Neches for 17 years. Bill loved working with his hands and fixing things. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing with his children. Bill also enjoyed traveling with his wife; Margaret and visiting 48 states by RV.
Bill is survived by his wife of 55 years, Margaret Varni Stinnett of Port Neches; his children, Todd Stinnett and his wife, Felicia of Houston, Melissa Page and her husband, Timothy of Port Neches, Stephen Stinnett and his fiancé, Cyndie Marshall of Kingwood, and Jeffrey Stinnett of Spring; and his grandchildren, Taylor Stinnett, Sophie Stinnett, John Page, Katherine Page, Mary Page, Aidan Stinnett, and Drew Stinnett. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Bobby Stinnett.
A gathering of family and friends will be on Thursday, March 22, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with a Christian Vigil at 6:00 p.m. at Melancon’s Funeral Home in Nederland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Port Neches on Friday, March 23, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. with Father Shane Baxter, Celebrant. Interment will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches.
