Willis Joseph “Joey” Landry, Jr., 58, of Port Acres, Texas passed away on Sunday, July 2, 2023, in Port Arthur.
Joey was born on July 24, 1964, in Port Arthur, Texas to Grace Simoneaux Landry and Willis Joseph Landry, Sr. He was an A/C technician with various complexes in the area and graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School in 1982 and later went to the University of Houston where he got his HVAC certification and degree. Joey enjoyed riding his motorcycle, listening to music and playing Farkle with his family and friends. He also loved his fur babies, Jack, Pearl, George and Piper; his big dogs that he loved dearly and Charlie, his pet rabbit. Most of all, Willis loved his family; especially his wife, who first was his best friend for twenty plus years, Karie “Sue” Landry, who later became his wife on August 20, 2021.
Survivors include his wife, Karie Suzanne Landry of Port Acres; son Derrick Landry of Port Acres and Calib Williams of Buna; sister, Sandra Landry of Port Acres; mother-in-law, Molly Kavanaugh of Groves; father-in-law, Bo Holstine of Beaumont; brother-in-law, Jeff Holstine of Montgomery, Texas and Ted Holstine of Orange; niece, Laura Peltier and her husband Chad of Port Acres; nephew, James Arabie and his wife, Erica of Groves, Texas. The family wants to recognize his best friend, Alan Leever of Port Acres who was always there for Joey through thick and thin.
Joey was preceded in death by his parents, Willis and Grace Landry; brothers, Kevin Landry, Billy Landry and Patrick Landry; step-son, Waylon Paul.
A gathering of Family and Friends will take place from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Saturday, July 8, 2023, at Melancon Funeral Home in Nederland. A “Celebration of Life” Memorial Service to Honor the Life and Memory of Willis Joseph “Joey” Landry, Jr. will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, July 8, 2023, at Melancon Funeral Home. Private Cremation Services will be held at a later date.
