Winnie "Billie" Payne, 97, of Groves, Texas passed away Friday, October 25, 2013 at the Clairmont in Beaumont, Texas. She was born September 9, 1916 in Vosburg, Mississippi to James R. Buffington and Dora Fleming Buffington. Billie has been a resident of Groves since 1954 and member of Groves First Baptist Church. She was also a U.S. Navy veteran. Billie was preceded in death by her husband, Willis Payne. Survivors include her son, Pat Payne and wife, Carriall of Buna, TX; sister, Faye Lee of Lumberton, TX; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, October 28, 2013 at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches, Texas. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Sunday from 2:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m. at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves.
