Yolanda "Yoli" Moya Reid

1946 ∼ 2025

Yolanda Moya Reid, a beloved matriarch and cherished friend, passed away on March 10, 2025, in Nederland, Texas. Born on July 18, 1946, in Tilden, Texas, she lived a life rich with laughter, love, and cherished memories, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew her.

Yolanda was a woman of many passions, taking great joy in her family and the moments they shared together. Her devotion to family was unwavering; she lovingly nurtured her children and embraced every opportunity to bring everyone together. Her son, John Reid, resides in Nederland and continues the legacy of love and laughter she instilled in her family. Her granddaughter, Carly Porter, also calls Nederland home, further ensuring that Yolanda's spirit will continue to shine brightly through future generations. Janice Reid, her devoted daughter-in-law, and her siblings—brother Lamo Moya and his wife Abelina, and sister Olga Palomo and her husband Andy—held a special place in her heart.

Avid sports enthusiasts, Yolanda reveled in her support for the Dallas Cowboys and the Houston Astros, finding immense joy in the camaraderie and excitement of the games. Her love for competition also extended to her younger days when she played basketball and softball, as well as her affection for bowling. In her leisure, she danced to the rhythms of country and western music, where she found both solace and joy, always ready to share a laugh and a story.

Yolanda enjoyed watching old Western movies, often recalling the thrill and nostalgia they inspired within her. Her laughter echoed in the hearts of her family and friends, brightening their days with her warmth and humor.

Sadly, she has journeyed beyond this life, joining those who have previously departed. Yolanda was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Erasmo and Catherina Moya; her husband, John Reid, Sr.; her son, James "Steven" Reid; and her sisters, Silvia Ramon, Elvia Winstead, and Emma Schlagel, and her brother, Mario Moya.

The memory of Yolanda will be honored in a visitation ceremony on March 21, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, followed by a memorial service at 6:00 PM, both at Melancon Levingston Funeral Home, 1605 Avenue H, Nederland, TX 77627.

Yolanda Moya Reid's legacy of love, laughter, and devotion to family serves as an enduring reminder of the beauty of life and the connections we forge. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Yoli was a good friend that I list touch with over the years. I met her and John at the Lantern lounge in Beaumont. I was new to the area and we became fast friends. We shared a lot of laughs and great times many many years ago. I was sad to learn John and Steven have passed away as well. My sincere condolences to the family. John, if you remember me please feel free to reach out.

I'll never forget one Friday night sitting next to her at the Ember's and it was a slow night and as the people slowly came in I finely looked at her and said "they're just getting better and better", I was referring to the guys coming in. She knew exactly what I was talking about and busted out loud with laughter. We both had shared several laughter's together without having to explain what we were laughing about. We just knew. I loved that she understood my sarcasm and always knew when to make lite of it. I would tell you about the last canoe trip we went on, but it's a long story. Let's just say we were drunk, laughed, and just had one of the best canoeing trips to remember. Miss Yoli you'll always be in my heart and greatly missed. God bless, Carrie Boudreaux
