We want to be absolutely clear that Ms. Jackie Burnett has not passed away.

Ms. Burnett and her family had previously provided information to our funeral home as part of the prearrangement process. That information was intended to remain in our records for future use and was mistakenly published as an obituary.

This error was entirely ours, and neither Ms. Burnett nor her family bears any responsibility for what occurred.

We deeply regret the confusion, concern, and distress this mistake may have caused Ms. Burnett, her family, and those who know and care for her. We have removed the incorrect posting and are reviewing our procedures to help prevent an error like this from happening again.

To Ms. Burnett and her family, we offer our sincere and heartfelt apology. The trust families place in Melancon Levingston is something we take very seriously, and in this instance, we did not meet the standard of care and responsibility they had every right to expect from us.
